What actually happened to Benazir
First printed 29th December, 2007
I have been reading and seeing all the photographs and videos of the tragic event of 27th December. I can give a simple and to the point detail of the events as they happened. Why cannot the press do this analysis themselves?
From the first video released by the Interior Ministry, the approx position of the gunman is about 7 0 clock position of Benazir if she is facing 12 O clock. She was standing and waving to her supporters on both sides. If the bullet was fired from her left rear side, as confirmed by the photographs shown by Dawn News, and she was looking at that moment to the right side, the bullet would hit her head at a shallow angle on right side of the skull. Being a bullet with a lot of energy, it would cause a deep gash of approx 5 -6 cm by 4 -5 cm into the skull by breaking the bones inside wards and ricochet away. This is also what the government spokesman is saying, except in their hurry to close the case, they have added two plus two as five. The wound would be as they have said that some thing blunt from outside had hit her head to make the bones go into the brain and caused the bleeding which caused her death. There is the possibility that blood had also spurt onto the side of the sunroof, where if there are blood stains is what they have erroneously said was the blunt object hitting her head. I have had the experience of seeing many similar wounds where a sharp object or a shrapnel/bullet at a shallow angle causes such depression wound, especially when there is bone under the skin at the point of impact. So neither is the Government spokesman lying nor do the doctor’s reports say any thing different. It is only a matter of looking at the whole case with the available evidence in a logical and plausible manner.
So can we please stop the hullabaloo on TV and the print media of how she died and try to get to the bottom of the case as to who was behind this horrendous assassination.
